Wiggle all the way

She started at the top of her snuggle nest 90 min ago...

Second Visit with Grandma Cindy & Grandpa Jud

My parents came for a weekend visit sandwiched between time in LA watching Lauren and a several week long trip to Maui. Claire had lots of cuddle time with Grandpa, as their visit coincided with March Madness and my dad can't get enough NCAA basketball. Their visit allowed Matt and me to have a date night (went to see Greenberg at the Sundance Kabuki Theater where we enjoyed the 21+ balcony bar and big comfy seats) and a day of baby-less errands.

Napping with Kevin

After Claire fell asleep, I transfered her to Kevin so I could eat my
lunch.

A new sleeping position

We went to lunch at the Marin Brewing Company today with friends Kevin &
Becca. As naptime approached, Claire settled into sleep with just a
small jiggle on my knee, nestled on my arm. Hoping this is a new trend!

View from (nearly) the Top

Another naptime, another walk in the sun.

In a fully hands-free maneuver, I placed Claire in the sling and
Sunapee's leash around my waist Tuesday afternoon and walked around
the neighborhood. To tire out the dog a bit more, I decided to climb
the 15th Ave stairs and reward myself with the view.

My legs are still sore. Hopefully Dr. Fang gives me the green light to
start exercising!

Sunapee Supervises

Sunapee decided he should come over to watch Claire's tummy time - and
sniff her feet for good measure.

Self-Fulfilling Prophecy?

Although today was a beautiful, warm, sunny day, it is technically winter and there must be snowmen melting somewhere. Therefore, I dressed Claire in this onesie I found on clearance at babyGap. Pretty much on cue:

St. Patrick's Day at the Blackthorn

Claire is in a fine mood this evening so we decided to walk her to the
local Irish Pub, where our friend Ursula tends bar some nights, for a
beer. Claire's ride is, appropriately enough, shades of green.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

A Cuddly Porcupine

Franklin's Safe Zone

For some odd reason, Franklin likes to hang out in the tub. Sometimes
he lucks out and gets to lap up some drips. Other times he just sits
or curls up there - out of Sunapee's reach and (until bathtime) away
from a crying baby. Most bizarre cat.

A beautiful morning in GG Park

I had a sleeping baby, coffee and a donut, and enjoyed the sun from the botanical gardens in Golden Gate Park.

Claire, one month old

Taken on her one month birthday, Claire posed again with the elephant. She certainly has grown, though I'll admit the first round with the elephant, she was a bit slouched. Anyway, she weighed 7 lb 9 oz at her one month visit at the pediatrician, more than a pound over her birth weight. Hooray! She measures 21 inches - 2 inches longer than at birth.

Like the Mona Lisa

Her eyes follow you.

On schedule with what the books say she should be able to do by now, she does track me as I move back and forth in front of her. I love it!

My name is Claire and I'm a slingaholic

Claire is a very curious baby. She wants to take it all in and refuses to close her eyes unless heavily persuaded. She just doesn't want to miss anything. Matt has his effective ways to get her to relax and drift to sleep but his method doesn't work for me. I have one just-shy-of-sure-fire way to get Claire to sleep: put her in the swing and walk around. The best bet is to walk down the stairs (Sunapee appreciates this as otherwise I don't have a chance to take him out). On nice days, I have taken the opportunity to get some sun and fresh air and I walk circles on the back deck. After 20-30 minutes, I can usually transfer her to her bassinet without awakening her. However, I'm not often daring enough to take her OUT of the sling first.

Big night out

Here's some evidence of our big outing Saturday night in Oakland for the SHHS basketball game. She's supporting "The Hall" in her custom onesie (thanks Anne!)
