Scissors Lesson

Claire and I spent some time learning to use her special "won't cut hair" scissors. We discussed opening and closing them to cut the paper. I think she she found it helpful to open and close her mouth as well.

Paintings

Claire loves to paint and draw. The other day I came home to see some new masterpieces. These were even titled.

 "Owl"

"Tree"

 "Daddy"

I'm not quite sure which way is up for the "Daddy" portrait. I think I'm just glad there wasn't a "Mommy" version.

Jammies

We had a pajama party before and after dinner Wednesday night. Claire wanted monkey, elephant and herself all in jammies. Claire dressed herself, as you can see, hence the backwards top.

Elephant Growth Series - Age 2+

I seem to have abandoned the photo series with the elephant. Now I just take whatever snapshots I can get when she picks up the old guy. Claire thought I wanted portraits of Elephant and kindly held him out for the camera. Photo series or not, this kid is growing!

Tunes

We often plug our iPhones into this speaker for some music. Claire felt it was too quiet so she found her own phone to play her tunes.

Colored Ice

On a particularly warm Saturday (3/3/12), Claire experimented with some giant, colored ice cubes. We discussed their various properties - hot or cold? Solid or liquid? Float or sink? She sported a colorful goatee for the rest of the day. My girl likes to eat ice cubes - even the colorless kind.

Making Coffee

One morning last week Claire scrambled out of Matt's arms onto the counter and promptly reached into the cabinet for coffee filters. She opened the lid and placed one empty filter then one salt filled filter (pictured) into the coffee maker. Maybe it's time I assign her this chore?
